Pool Maintenance

Pool maintenance for safe water and long-lasting equipment

Clean-looking water isn't always balanced water. Regular testing and adjustment protects swimmers, your pool surface and the equipment that keeps everything moving.

What maintenance covers

  • Water testing for chlorine, pH, alkalinity and stabilizer
  • Chemical adjustments based on the test results
  • Salt system checks for saltwater pools
  • Filter care: cleaning or backwashing on a set schedule
  • Pump and motor checks for leaks, noise and pressure changes
  • Heater and automation look-over when present
  • Calcium and scale watch to protect plaster and tile
  • Seasonal adjustments for summer heat and winter freezes
The process

Our approach

  1. Test every visit

Houston heat burns through chlorine quickly, so we test each visit instead of guessing.

  2. Adjust in small steps

Small, regular corrections keep water steady and avoid the swings that irritate eyes and etch plaster.

  3. Watch the equipment

Pressure readings, sounds and small drips are early warnings. We flag them before they turn into expensive repairs.

Houston seasons

What changes through the year

Spring: Oak and pine pollen coats the surface and clogs filters. Expect more frequent filter cleaning.

Summer: Hot water and strong sun use up chlorine fast, and heavy swimming adds to the demand. This is when steady testing matters most.

Storm season: Heavy rain dilutes chemicals and washes in debris. Pools usually need a reset after a big storm.

Winter: Hard freezes are rare in Houston but they do happen. Keeping the pump running during a freeze protects the pipes.

Questions

Pool Maintenance FAQ

What's the difference between cleaning and maintenance?

Cleaning removes what you can see: leaves, dirt and debris. Maintenance handles what you can't: water chemistry, filter condition and how the equipment is running. Most pools need both.

Do you service saltwater pools?

Yes. Saltwater pools still need testing and balancing, plus regular checks of the salt cell and salt level.

How often should the filter be cleaned?

It depends on the filter type, how big it is and how much debris goes into the pool. Pressure readings tell us when it's time, and spring pollen season usually means more frequent cleanings.

What should I do before a freeze?

Keep the pump running so water keeps moving through the pipes. If your system has freeze protection, make sure it's turned on. Call us if you're not sure how your equipment is set up.
